The front door opens and closes more than any other door in the house, takes the sun and the rain, and carries the heaviest lock. When something goes wrong with it, it is rarely just one thing: a door that sags also stops latching, a worn seal lets in dust and light, and a frame that took a hit no longer holds the deadbolt. KapMorgan repairs front doors and other exterior doors in Los Angeles. We look at the whole door on the visit — hinges, frame, threshold, weatherstripping and hardware — and fix what is needed in one trip, so the door closes, seals and locks properly. Front door repair is part of our door repair and adjustment service.

Repair the Front Door or Replace It?
Most front doors can be repaired. A sagging, sticking or drafty door, a loose handleset, a worn threshold or a frame damaged at the strike are all repairs, and each costs a fraction of a new door. Replacement makes sense when the door itself is split, badly warped, rotted through, or so damaged that it can no longer hold a lock. From your photos we tell you which side of that line the door is on. If it is a repair, you get one price for the repair. If the door needs replacing, we price the new door as well, and you decide.

He was very responsive and communicative on ETA and brought supplies based off pictures I sent. I would hire him again for future jobs.”

Front Door Repair: What We Check
We start with how the door hangs. A front door is heavy, and when its top hinge loosens, everything else follows: the latch misses the strike, the deadbolt binds, the seal opens at the top corner. Re-anchoring the hinges and setting the door back in its frame often solves several problems at once.
Then the frame and the threshold. The frame takes the force of the lock and of every slam; the threshold takes the water. A cracked jamb at the strike or a soft threshold is repaired before the door is adjusted, because adjusting a door against a broken frame does not last.
Last, the seals and the hardware. Worn weatherstripping and a missing sweep let in dust, insects and heat; a loose handleset or a tired lock makes the door feel insecure. We bring common parts based on your photos, so most front doors are finished in one visit.
