Bifold doors fail in a few predictable ways. The top guide pin wears or pulls out and the door drops out of the track. The bottom pivot bracket shifts and the door hangs crooked. A hinge between the panels loosens and the door sags in the middle. Or the track itself has come loose from the head of the opening. None of this means the door has to be replaced. KapMorgan repairs bifold doors in Los Angeles on closets, pantries and laundry alcoves: we replace pivots, pins and guides, re-fix the track, tighten the hinges and adjust the doors so they fold and close properly. Bifold repair is part of our door repair work, and for other closet doors see closet and pocket door repair.

Bifold Door Off Track: What Breaks and How It Is Fixed
Bifold doors run on three small parts: a top pivot pin and a bottom pivot at the jamb side, and a guide pin or roller in the top track at the far side. The guide pin is the part that wears most. When it breaks or works loose, the door swings out of the track and hangs from the pivots. Snapping it back in works for a day. The lasting fix is a new pin, a pivot bracket set in the right place and a track that is fixed tight to the head. We bring the common pins and brackets and replace whatever has worn, then adjust the door so it stays in.

Clients on closet and pocket door repairs
★★★★★“Kapp was amazing! He fixed my bathroom pocket door that got off track and was hanging weird and wouldnt close or open properly. He fixed the door without having to tear open the wall and helped paint the door from previous scratches. He came back afterwards because the pocket door had such a slim opening that it would scratch the door whenever opening and closing and installed a plastic thing that kept the door straight whenever it was moved to prevent further issues. He was fairly priced and very professional. He even helped fix a drawer handle that fell off and checked some lights in the backyard that I had issues with. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Good work and honest guy!”
★★★★★“Ivan did an amazing job fixing our door!!! We needed help with our door, because our new rug didn’t allow the door to open and close over it. He helped remove the door and shave the bottom, and now it works perfectly with the new rug! He was very quick and professional. We would definitely work with him again!”
★★★★★“I had door trim replaced around two of my interior doors. One of the doors also needed two of the (spring) hinges replaced. I was able to text photos and get a quick estimate without needing to schedule a visit for that. Service was prompt and friendly and I got a really good looking result. Would use again.”

Fixing a Bifold Door
Bi-folding door repairs are mostly small parts. The pins and pivots are standard across most brands, which is why a broken one can be replaced instead of the whole door. A door whose panels have split at the hinge screws needs the screw holes filled and re-drilled, or the hinges moved slightly to solid wood.
A door that hangs crooked usually has its bottom pivot bracket out of place; moving it a notch along its slots brings the door back to plumb. A door that rubs at the top has its top pivot set too tight to the jamb. A pair that will not meet needs both doors adjusted and, often, an aligner on the meeting edge.
When the panels themselves are cracked, warped or falling apart, repair stops making sense, and a new bifold door is the better buy. We tell you which from your photo, with prices for both if you want to compare.
