Water damage is the repair we see most often, usually near a dishwasher, sink or an exterior door where rain tracks in. Laminate swells and the core can crumble once water gets into the seams, and even water-resistant vinyl plank can trap moisture underneath if it sits long enough, so we open up the affected section, check the subfloor for lingering moisture, and replace only the planks that are actually damaged rather than the whole room. Finding a close color and finish match matters here — we check what stock is available before quoting, since an exact match is not always possible on an older floor.
Planks that have separated or popped up at a seam are usually a sign the click-lock joint failed, either from being installed without enough expansion room around the room’s edge or from a spill that swelled the edge of a plank. In many cases the plank itself is fine and can be re-seated once the underlying cause is addressed, which is less invasive and less expensive than replacing it outright.
