KapMorgan installs laminate flooring across Los Angeles homes looking for a durable, budget-friendly upgrade over carpet or aging flooring. Laminate uses a high-resolution photographic layer under a hard, scratch-resistant coating to mimic wood, tile or stone at a lower cost than the real material, and it holds up well in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways with normal foot traffic. We measure the space and confirm the exact price on site. Every estimate is free.

Laminate Flooring: Prices

A basic room with a flat, ready subfloor runs from $4.50 per square foot for installation alone — laminate planks generally go down a little faster than vinyl plank, which keeps labor cost slightly lower. Add $2 per square foot to haul away old carpet or flooring, and $1.50 per square foot if the subfloor needs leveling or fresh underlayment first. We measure the room and confirm the exact total before any work starts, at no cost to you. $150 minimum per visit, labor only. Several small tasks in one visit are added together.

What’s Included

Why Laminate

Laminate is not waterproof the way vinyl plank is, so it is best suited to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and other dry areas rather than kitchens, bathrooms or laundry rooms where standing water is a risk. Within those dry areas, though, laminate holds up extremely well against everyday wear — its hard wear layer resists scratches from foot traffic, pet claws and moved furniture better than most real hardwood finishes, which is part of why it remains a popular, practical choice for family homes.

Laminate is rated by an AC (abrasion class) number that tells you how much wear it is built to take — AC3 is the standard grade for residential rooms with normal foot traffic, while AC4 and AC5 are rated for heavier commercial-style use and hold up better in a busy entryway or a home with several kids and pets. We generally recommend at least AC3 for any Los Angeles home, and step up to AC4 for hallways, stairs and rooms that see the most daily traffic. Compared to engineered hardwood, laminate at a similar price point almost always comes with a higher abrasion rating, since engineered hardwood spends its cost on a real wood veneer rather than a wear layer.

Laminate holds up well day to day, but it needs a gentler cleaning routine than vinyl plank since standing water or a wet mop left too long can seep into the seams and cause the core to swell. A dry or barely damp microfiber mop and a laminate-safe cleaner keep the surface looking new without putting moisture where it does not belong. Spills should be wiped up right away rather than left to sit, which is the single most common cause of laminate needing early repair.

We carry sample boards in several finishes to every estimate — light and dark wood tones, along with some tile and stone-look patterns — so you can see how a finish actually reads under your room lighting rather than guessing from a small photo. Matching the new floor to existing trim, cabinets or an adjoining room is easier to judge in person, and we are happy to bring a few options if you are deciding between finishes.
